A Letter to Deep Rest

The worst things happen to the best people.

You smile but you’re hurting.

Your friends ask what’s wrong,

you say that you’re just tired,

that your boss is an asshole,

that you just have a headache.

Why ruin their happiness with your despair?

So you continue hurting.

Everyday, the ache in your chest grows.

Or is what you feel the lack of pain,

as numbness spreads over you?

All you feel is helplessness.

Your friends become more concerned,

but how could they understand?

They don’t know what happened.

You don’t want to worry them,

to annoy them.

So you continue hurting.

But do you realize how selfish that is?

Pushing people away—

people who genuinely love you—

and care deeply about you and your well-being.

Maybe you’re right,

and they wont fully understand,

but you don’t have to do this alone.

You’re stronger with people supporting you,

so don’t walk alone,

talk to me.
